Stats Alive is the vehicle for me (Ken Gerow, statistics prof at the University of Wyoming) to share tools for learning and doing statistics. Most of what I put here will be free, some small portion of it will be available for purchase (gotta pay for the web site somehow). Take a look – if you like what you see, act accordingly.

Power and sample size:

Power and sample size calculations, even for a simple setting (difference in means for two samples) can be complicated by biology (variation changes with means) and design (to pair or not to pair). The tool (free download) pictured above will easily handle those complications

Resource selection

Computations for selection ratios are usually both many and tedious. I have developed interactive Excel software that does the calculations quickly and easily, enabling you to think about the biology and the science instead of number-crunching. Free download for a demonstration version of the software. A fully functional version (along with an accompanying e-book) can be purchased from my store.
